Superbowl, Go Daddy, exploding bra straps

Google Video, still in beta, natch, has a collection of many of the superbowl ads aired last week. Good stuff. I never thought I would laugh at a Benny Hill reference, but Sprint got me good. The Busbee Berkeley ad from Burger King is one of the most surreal things I have ever seen.

GoDaddy.com's ads were confusing again, not their content, which was funny and salacious, thank you very much, but ... what's their business model, exactly? Buying two 2.5 million dollar ad placements, so they can sell 2.5 million domain names for $1.99 each? Well, that appears to be it, get the growth, and hook 'em with higher prices that don't appear in the fun ads. In addition, they try to look people into automated 5- and 10-year renewals. So, those exploding bra straps must have been incredibly profitable, and we can expect to see them again in the future.
